Awaken :)

Um... Greetings!
This past weekend our church held a youth and young adult retreat called Awaken. It was awesome.
We did a few service projects...made meals for 4 families, raked leaves, and picked up garbage at a park.
My small group was fantastic!! The weekend was mostly focused on spending time as a small group, so i got to know them all pretty well. [if ya know what i mean] ha. ha. ha.
We had some good discussions and were able to pray with and for each other a lot. They are a great group of girls.
One of the main things i got out of the weekend was..ahem...realizing how completely self centered i am. and that if i was more focused on God and the needs of others, life might not seem as complicated. Also, not just trying to motivate myself to be a 'good little girl' but being patient and loving to others because thats what Christ has done for me.
Awaken '10 was focused on Ephesians 4, and the theme was 'One'
A few more things i was reminded of...
~Walk in a manner worthy of your calling, every day.
~There is one body, one spirit, one faith, one hope, one Lord, one baptism, one God and Father of all.
~Don't be tossed "to and fro"...stand firm.
~Always speak the truth in love to one another.
Overall it was an awesome retreat and i'm already looking forward to next year....
And just because it wouldn't be right if i didn't, i must share a few other things i 'learned'...
1. Broomball is almost impossible to play when you are extremely tired
2. Raking leaves makes my thumbs hurt.
3. Everyone tells the truth at 2 a.m. :)
4. Painting your fingernails in very dim lighting and late at night is not necessarily a good idea.
5. Apparently you can, in fact, kill plastic army men.
6 "if you know what i mean" makes everything sound bad. (i did not learn this at the retreat...but it was definitely perfected there.)
Haha....well have a great day.
