I like December. Right now, it is my favorite month of the whole year. That may change when January comes, but i highly doubt it. There are multiple reasons i love December, and Christmastime in general.
#1: Almost everyone, everywhere is happy, or at least pretends to be happy. Especially at Walmart.
I was there yesterday. Many people don't know about my extreme love/hate relationship with Walmart. I hardly ever go there. I have reasons for not going, but i also have reasons for going. Its more of an entertaining experience than anything. Our family will go to Walmart, grab a few things that we need, and leave within 20 minutes. I will, guaranteed, be laughing so hard that my stomach hurts 19 of those 20 minutes. Now i don't know if it is like this at any other Walmart in the world, but at the Buffalo, MN location, there is not ONE normal person. Don't get me wrong, there really is no definition of "normal"....but the people i have seen at Walmart are just....not...normal. And, admittedly, our family fits right in.
I can completely amuse myself at Walmart, but when my mom is there, it is uncharacteristically entertaining. Together, we notice nearly every single absurd thing that happens.
Usually, there is this unsaid rule that no one smiles when inside of a Walmart store. Yesterday it was quite different. Everyone was smiling. It was very awkward, to say the least. ;)
However, there is a valid explanation for the awkward smiling. Its Christmastime, of course. So everyone is happy. I like that.
#2: I feel like i'm in a snow globe... or Narnia. Possibly the nicest thing i heard today was the weather person say, "The weather today is looking pretty much exactly like yesterday". I don't think she was very happy about it. But its beautiful outside, and i love it. Everything is covered in white, fluffy snow, the sun is shining, and its not brutally cold. It's perfect.
#3: Our house smells like pine. Its amazing. We have a very cool Christmas tree. My dad and I named it Lucy. Be jealous.
#4: I just really, really love Christmas music. I can't stop listening to it. Forgive me for posting about it yet again, but here are my two latest favorites...

#5: Extremely well-behaved children. The little girl I babysit for is just that. Most other times of the year i have to deal with attitude, whining, complaining, and just plain naughtiness from her. But December comes around, and she's an angel. This has everything to do with a new trend going around called "Elf on the Shelf". It's a little elf that families "adopt" and bring it to their house. The elf "watches" the kids during the day and flies back to the North Pole every night to tell Santa if they were naughty or nice that day. The quantity of their presents relies solely on the level of their niceness. It finds a new hiding spot each day. Children can't touch it or it dies. I had never heard of this Elf of the Shelf until Monday morning when i walked in the front door of their house, and Jen ran up to me and shouted, "HAILEY!!! Look. up. THERE." I looked up and, behold, there was a creepy little elf doll staring down at me. She then took the creepiness to a whole new level by saying in a very weird tone of voice, "It SEES you". I almost screamed. Not that i believed her, but because it was just plain creepy, okay? It was very bad. On the bright side, she was dressed and ready to go an hour before she needed to be, and i didn't have to deal with any naughtiness. The elf and I are good friends now.
#6: Honestly, i think i embrace the Christmas spirit more than any other person in the World. We are celebrating the birth of my Savior...how can i not be happy? I think everyone ought to be jumping for joy at the very thought of Christmas.
"For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6

I think that is plenty of reasons.

I'm now going to go dance to Christmas music with Isaiah.
Have a great day.

Quote for the day:
"God's sacred intent for you and for me is nothing short of absolute abandonment to Jesus, entire separation from the pollution of the world, and ardent worship of our King with every breath we take."
